Welcome!
Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my blog! I'm just getting started so please come back often to check on my progress. If you enjoy hand sewing and applique, and are looking for something fun and unique to stitch up, you've come to the right place! All of my pattern instructions are very easy to follow and require basic stitches such as blanket stitch, straight stitch, and french knots. I work mostly with wool and wool felt. The patterns that I have designed are for penny rugs and candle mats. Most are very quick projects with a touch of whimsy. I hope you enjoy your visit and will be one of my faithful followers! God Bless!

About Me
- Kathy
- New Ipswich, New Hampshire, United States
- I love sewing! I started to hand sew when I was in elementary school. Of course over the years I tried many different crafts. My mom taught me to sew, hand embroider, and knit. My grandmother taught me to crochet. What precious memories I have of those times! As much as I've always loved working with yarn, nothing quite compares to my love of making penny rugs. I stumbled across them on ebay and instantly knew I could design my own and be happy stitching them up forever! As time went on, and they started becoming quite popular, people began asking if I made patterns. Well, I thought I would give it a try, and voila! Penny Lane Primitives was born! At the moment I have 45 designs with about a million more in my head! I just wish I had more free time to create. I work full time in the local elementary school in my small New England town. I have 3 children...2 daughters, 36 and 23, a son, 21, and two beautiful granddaughters, 13 and 7. I guess that all makes me sound kinda old huh? Well, not really...it's just a number right?

Long time no blog! My life has been just one big bundle of crazy in the past year! Long story short....I am 'at the moment' a cancer survivor! Yay! Happy New Year to me and to all of you! 2013 is going to be my year and 2012 just a memory of how life can throw some pretty nasty stuff your way. How we deal with it certainly defines the person that we are. My husband has been amazing and for him I am so very thankful. That being said, I just wanted to take a minute and wish all of you a very Happy, HEALTHY, Prosperous, Wonderful New Year!!!! Thanks so much to all of you that have helped to make Penny Lane Primitives successful! I love designing and plan to continue into the New Year and waaayyyy beyond! My newest will be out in a few days...similar to the Holly & Berries design but with a Valentine theme...who doesn't love Love? Very pretty and one I so enjoyed making & I'm certain you will too. Keep watching! God Bless!

Summer days
Ahhh...summer! Is there anything better? I'm just like the kids this time of year. I wonder why? Oh, that's right, school's out! I work in the little elementary school in my town so that means the summer is mine! But with the good there is always the 'not so good'. The paychecks come to a screeching halt! Thank goodness for my little pattern business...it certainly helps to keep us from going totally broke with bill collectors on our heels. A great big 'THANK YOU' to all my wonderful customers for helping to make this all possible!!! I hope you are all enjoying your summer days...they pass all too quickly! Have a great one!

Now it won't stop raining!
I know it's been a long time since I wrote...not much free time on my hands these days! So now the snow is gone, yeah! And the rain has taken over! I can't remember the last time I saw the sun! Usually May is such a pretty month in New Hampshire...not this year. I have a lot of flowering trees in my yard, and yes, they are still flowering, but they aren't nearly as pretty in the rain and gloom. Oh well, maybe next year. Oh that's right...there isn't going to be a next year! Tomorrow is May 21st and the world is going to end! OMG! What the heck??? Hasn't this prediction been made just a few times before? How did that work out? Crazy people out there. Anyway, I hope tomorrow works out ok for all of you! Keep sewing...it will take your mind off the 'end'. LOL ;) Enjoy the music!

Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow!
I have very mixed feelings about all the snow we are finally getting. I guess living in New Hampshire I should be very accustomed to piles of the 'white stuff' everywhere, but when it falls every couple of days and school is cancelled, well, enough already! Ya, it's pretty, until it melts a bit, then freezes and your driveway is a danger to anything with legs. Namely me. Haven't fallen yet, but I'm thinking about getting some of those ice gripper thingys to put on my shoes. There is one really good thing about winter....my little pattern business is booming! I guess there are a lot of stitchers out there that must be stuck in the house! Yeah! Sorry ladies...bad for you but great for me! The 'I Love Ewe' pattern (shown above) is my newest. All of my patterns are available on patternmart.com in pdf or paper form. I hope you will go check them out if you haven't already! Well, I'm off to sew! God Bless!

JOY! Ebay Auction
I've been working on my ~*JOY*~ Candle Quilt for quite a while! I wasn't sure I would finish it in time to list it on Ebay for Christmas, but I finally did! The auction will end next Sunday, the 18th, and so long as it is paid for quickly it should arrive by Christmas via USPS Priority mail. It's a beauty! 20 inches square and hand stitched using wonderful wools, wool felts, and the background is a sweet, faux tea-stained cotton. Very pretty! If you would like to bid or just watch...click on the photo above...
I may put this one into a pattern after the holidays.
I don't think I'll have much time to blog before the New Year, so Merry Christmas Everyone! God Bless You and Yours in the New Year!!!

Winter Pins!
Busy, busy, busy! It's getting to be that wonderful, crazy time of year!!!! But I'm never too busy for sewing! My newest designs are winter pins. I love snowmen (as you may have already figured out)...and I decided that I don't have enough pins. These are what I came up with...
I had 5 of the snow mittens listed on ebay, and, well, I guess there are other snowman lovers out there! I plan to make more so if you would like one you can either wait until they are back on ebay, or drop me an email. One or more is fine with me! ;) The mitten measures about 1 3/4" long by 1 1/2" wide, and the star measures 1 1/2". They are $7.50 each. They can be purchased just like you see, with or without glitter. The glitter looks nice and festive! Each one comes attached to the cardstock that you see in the photo...perfect for a little gift! I plan to make the pattern eventually too...it will have directions for both pins along with the directions for ornies...several different sizes. Not sure when I will get to that, but I promise I will. Well, that's about it for now. C Ya! Oh...Happy Thanksgiving all!!! Gobble Gobble!
